A quieter shape
Installation
Melbourne
Exploring the tension between weight and silence, this work considers the spaces we hold and the forms we leave behind.
Sample project wall labels (title in italics, medium, place) for the studio to replace with its own work
The project began with a simple question: how little does a form need to say before a room falls quiet around it? We answered by taking things away. Fewer pieces, more space between them, and light that arrives slowly rather than all at once.
Each piece was placed so that the visitor meets it alone. The walls stay dark, the floor carries the shadow, and the form is left to hold its own weight. Nothing competes for attention, so the looking can take its time.
We treat every project as an exhibit: it gets space around it, careful light and enough time to be seen properly.
Given room, given light
The project, one room at a time. Move down the page and the light moves with you.

The first approach. Seen side on, the form is almost a line.

Material, close. The surface keeps the marks of how it was made.

Distance. The room is sized so that the work is met, not passed.

After. What stays is the shape of the space it held.
